Thanks for these recommendations. :) I actually have the 10 boys and 10 girls who series, but didn't think to look through them for such stories (silly of me!). Thanks for the reminder!
I discovered this just now:
Irene Howat's story a month club - focuses on sharing a story of a Christian Hero or Heroine each month. www.story-a-month-club.org.uk/

Through the night I remembered St. Francis of Assissi.
We have a lovely book called The Fascinated Child by Basil Mathews - a compilation of children's lessons of the 'Wonderland of Hero Life' ie. humility, love of Christ... Anyhow there is a narrative 'Francis: Saint-Hero of Joy'. Here's a quote.
"Love, you see, love for everybody and everything, was the only weapon that Francis used, but he won a lot of victories, more important victories than Napoleon's. For if you teach people to love each other (and you can only do that by your example) the world changes much more quickly than by battles and sea-fights. Very likely we are more loving towards each other now than we should have been if Francis had never lived."

I'll keep thinking and looking.
What did pop into my mind was a movie Henry and I watched about Mandela called Invictus. I remember liking it at the time and remember parts of it to this day. Not sure if it would be kid suitable though.

We're starting to go through the book The Young Peacemakers. In an effort to add some value to the content, I'm looking at adding some real life examples of peacemakers (ie, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, etc...)
Do any of you have recommendations for stories/books about peacemakers? (either individual titles or compilations, modern or old, even great fiction books your families have enjoyed, etc...)
