http://www.christianbook.com/answers-volume-2-questions-dinosaurs-flood/ken-ham/9780890515273/pd/515273?event=CPOF we really enjoyed this one and learned a bunch. It is one of a set of 4 which would be very good for your children's ages. Format is one question a page/day. (like how did all the dinosaurs get on the arc). Answer is scripture first them commentary. (like - the kinds were on the arc and so not all the big dinos were on the arc and it could have been a very young dino). AiG is young earth, scripture focused and Creation/Creator driven.
Actually a no cost option (but not book) is simply the AiG web site. http://www.answersingenesis.org/get-answers#/topic/dinosaurs Here is their kids section: http://www.answersingenesis.org/kids and there are a few videos here on dinosaurs and related topics. I did not review them, but I have learned so much from all the AiG resources we have. I mean the kids have learned - OK - we all have!
Apologia Young Explorers has a chapter in Zoology 3 on Dinos.
Lastly, AiG does the 7 C's of history (I highly recommend teaching this about creation). They also do the 7 F's of Dinosaur History. I will get it to you as I cannot find it on their web site. But here it is - Formed Fearless Fallen Flood Faded Found Fiction.
Have fun!!!
ps - the Creation Museum would be very good! But if you are only going once then wait a few years.
... any recommendations for reading about dinosaurs for Gabriel's age (8)? I'm wanting something that would be Creation driven (not particular about the doctrinal stance - ie. 6 literal days...) and not just types of dinosaurs.
