This is such a wonderful idea and it's all the more wonderful knowing that these are "Christian believers" who are doing this.
This would also be an ideal way of travel for someone who feels led to go out into the world to share the Gospel especially if they were all by themselves, or a married couple.
What a blessing this would be.
My nephew traveled this way with his girlfriend, they went all the way to Scotland and other surrounding areas staying in other people's home that they didn't even know. It's all through a website online too though I can't remember the name of the site right now but for free room and board they help out while staying there. They help out at the home they stay in by preparing a meal or work at a market or do some chores on a farm. This way they get to learn about the people their culture, language etc....
They ended up getting married in Scotland as well as this was their plan apparently. I can't remember how long they were gone for but it was quite an experience for them.
Thank you for sharing this site with us all Bonnie.
I just wanted to let you know about this wonderful site: www.acandleinthewindow.com
It is a network of Christian families all over the world (hundreds in North America) who will open their homes, for free, for one or two night stays, or a 'conversational meal', to other Christian families who are travelling.
The cost to be a member for a year is $30, so it is a very reasonable fee to be connected with hundreds of other families who are willing to open their homes, if you are planning a trip at all in the next year. Contrast that with the expense of just one night at a hotel...
The idea is to share Christian hospitality with other believers and share our lives with strangers who we can bless.
