Here's a link for a free download of AiG's Mini Version of the Zoo Guide. The paper copy is $13. It is valid until March 24, 2014 I believe. Our nature nut girl likes this book very much.
This guide (and there is another one on aquariums) is designed so that if you go to a zoo you will take this with you and learn about the animals that you may see but it will be from a creation perspective (as compared to secular zoo guides).
Note - this is the mini version. If you purchase this in paper copy there is also a larger version. I think the difference is the size of the book. I'd rather carry around a small book at the zoo, I'd rather read a larger one at home (actually that's not true. I'd never read a nonfiction animal book - I do know some kids who would though!)
Answers in Genesis (AiG) was incredibly influential in my (our) growth. They have loads of resources available. Sometimes they are cheaper from Christianbook.com (CBD) but not all of their resources are available from CBD. Get on their email listing and each month (or more) you are notified about special sales. They have twice a year when you pay $75 for $100 of stuff. When I want to top off my order, I buy some clearance calendars as they have beautiful pictures!!!
For younger elementary kids, I highly recommend their The Answers Book for Kids series. http://www.answersingenesis.org/store/product/answers-book-for-kids-complete-set/ These have each page with a question from a child, scripture and then the answer. We did one page a day. each book has a general topic (salvation, flood, space etc) The last two are brand new. Awesome series! Small, hand sized books.
This DVD has 6 videos on them. They are also available on youtube (search "answers in genesis check this out"). They are so good we have bought it and the kids have watched them 'safely offline' over and over and over again. http://www.answersingenesis.org/store/product/check-out/
Note - some of their Kids DVDs are like sermons and I have found them dry. They have loads of technical DVDs.
I bought this book, Young Earth by Morris from John McKay when he was in London a few years ago. Harold LOVED IT and consumed it sooo fast. It is a adult high-school almost textbook. Best textbook my husband ever read:) http://www.answersingenesis.org/store/product/young-earth/?sku=10-2-308&
You can ask the Goodbean older kids what they think about this one - I bought this on their recommendation. The Genius of Ancient Man. http://www.answersingenesis.org/store/product/genius-ancient-man/ I have skimmed through it a few times and have taken my kids to their charts more than once.
