We didn't do it Wendy - I brought my stuff but since you weren't there I just left it. :) Here's the link to the map I have been using and on the site they have a blank one as well for 'students'. Maybe we can get together sometime and we can show you.
I went to a conference on discipleship about a month ago. One of the things they did was teach us how to draw the map of Israel and put on it the 5 bodies of water, major cities, areas, minor cities, mountains etc. I can't tell you how much me learning this information is helping the scriptures come alive for me. The pastor preached on Elisha and Elijah this past week. The scriptures talked about then walking to Jericho and then crossing over the Jordan River etc. This was so powerful because I could actually see it in my head. It makes so much sense to me that knowing the geography is important, but I didn't realize how important it was. Then I realized how far Mary walked when pregnant - the phrase "Super mom" comes to mind! The conference presenter said that some call the map the "5th gospel" because of how it makes Jesus' ministry come alive. Has anyone else has an experience with the geography of Israel when teaching bible classes?
